Halle Berry Works the Red Carpet in Summer Dress and Flip-Flops

Halle Berry is one of the most stylish actresses of her generation, it has been said countless times. In fact, Halle is so classy and has such a developed sense of style that she can even pull off a look that hardly few other female stars could: summer dress and flip-flops on the red carpet for the premiere of a big Hollywood production.

Yet, not only did the 42-year-old beauty appear at “The Soloist” premiere in what could have easily been described as beachwear, but she also managed to get the fashion observers singing her praise. Looking that good and, at the same time, so effortlessly elegant is something that you can’t teach or learn – it has to come from within, they say, giving kudos to the actress for daring to be different from other stars.

In a world where most celebrities break out their best items to rock on the red carpet, from jewelry to designer creations and accessories, even when they’re simply attending the premiere of a relatively small production, Halle Berry’s latest appearance certainly seems like a breath of fresh air. With her hair pulled up in a knot and wearing a simple but colorful body-hugging dress in the manner of the famous bandage dresses that are still causing a frenzy in the street, she was the perfect image of comfort and chic.

Since the Missoni dress was simply too summery to go with heels, Halle Berry chose the obvious and paired it with flip-flops. Far from coming off as too casual or perhaps out of place – as it happened to other female stars who also tried to be different on the red carpet in the past, and failed miserably – Halle made for a fresh, summery appearance that oozed class and elegance.

“The Soloist” stars Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr., the former being a close friend of Halle’s. It is for Foxx that she came at the premiere, to show her support for his work and as a friend. In “The Soloist,” Foxx plays the part of Nathaniel Ayers, a musician who becomes schizophrenic and, later on, homeless. Based on a true story, the film is already getting rave reviews from the critics and the public alike.
