Halle Berry Admits to Having Tried to Kill Her Beautiful Self

The actress opens up about her depression and suicide attempt

She is one of the most beautiful and respected actresses in Hollywood, but money and fame will never buy happiness. At least, that's what people keep saying and Halle Berry's case could be just the most convincing argument. Usually, she's a very discreet and quiet person, not too very fond of spilling the beans on her personal life, but time has come for the sexy actress to open up to the media.

In an interview with this issue of 'Parade' magazine, Halle openly talks about such tender topics as her two failed marriages, her suicide attempt and the relationship with men and her mother. Of course, the fact that the interview was taken and published the same day that her latest movie, 'Perfect Strangers', was released is purely a coincidence.

The 40-year-old star, who is now dating hunky model Gabriel Aubry, told the magazine how, when her marriage to David Justice collapsed in 1996, she tried to take her own life. 'I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me. She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do', the actress told the mag.

Halle soon realized that taking her own life was not the way to solve the problem and she moved on... to another man, musician Eric Benet, whom she married in 2001 only to divorce in 2005, after a long period of public scenes and dragging names through the mud. Her past experience of two failed marriages (which didn't quite end on 'amicable' terms) has made Halle more careful and somehow reticent to the idea of marriage. In fact, when rumors about her and Gabriel preparing for a big wedding ceremony surfaced, she was quick to dismiss them all via a press statement that clearly indicated that she had no intentions of marrying in the near future.

Instead, Miss Berry has another priority at the top of her list: starting a family, getting pregnant. She told 'Parade': 'Now my sights are set on a different chapter in my life, which is motherhood. That's the goal I have very clearly set for myself'.
