It shouldn't come as a surprise that most of the people are alarmed by the fact that they take significant amounts of money out of their pockets to satisfy their cars' fuel demand. According to a recent consumer report, 93% of the questioned car owners support an “increased fuel efficiency.”
The same source reveals that up to 77% of the subjects said that they are in favor of the brands which will launch on the market vehicles which will be more fuel-efficient than their competitors.
Almost 80% of the individuals declared that they agree with the fuel economy standards which state that a car should reach more than 55 miles per gallon by 2025.
Therefore, a large segment of the population is eager to witness some visible improvements in this field of activity.
The development of fuel savings technologies is one of the most popular requests supported by car owners, which, once implemented, will most likely have the ability to increase profit margins displayed by the developing companies.
Probably the most interesting finding emphasized by the authors of this consumer report shows that fuel savings is the main motivation which determined 56% of the participants think about purchasing an electric vehicle.
Following the same path, 81% of the individuals made it clear that they would invest more money in buying an expensive hybrid, if their purchase guarantees lower operating costs.
In order to be able to display these numbers which draw as a main conclusion the great demand for fuel-efficient means of transportation, The Consumer Reports National Research Center analyzed telephone interviews with 1,008 people over the age of 18.
The segment appears as a "nationally representative probability sample,” able to illustrate what car owners really want and expect on a large commercial scale.
"Eighty-nine percent of consumers who are considering these hybrid and electric models cited lower fuels costs as one of their motivations for making the transition."
"This survey demonstrates there is strong support in the consumer market for more efficient vehicles that help you keep your costs down at the gas pump,” has affirmed David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center.
