Carved from the finest woods, the iWood and iWood touch are the latest-introduced cases for Apple handset owners, but also iPod fans. The 100% wooden-crafted cases are made of Oak, Padouk, Cherry, Mahogany, Walnut wood, or even pre-ice-age Kauri timber, and can be engraved for personalization.

Miniot claims that, occasionally, it is able to obtain very rare woods in small quantities that are only enough to create two or three iWoods. According to the manufacturer, these exclusive, limited edition iWood cases are pictured in its “iWood heritage” section, that serves as a platform for customers to select and reserve the exact type of wood they want for their device, “to be sure you're the only one who has is!”

The cases use a simple “snapping mechanism,” ensuring that their device is completely concealed inside. According to those who've already ordered theirs, the product arrives in a fancy black box, making the iWood the perfect gift as well.

“We have a small stock of iWood heritage models in a range of wonderful and exclusive wood types, such as walnut burl, selected padouk, olive wood, apple wood, zebrano, wenge, pallisander, and ebony, or even ancient, pre-ice-age (!) Kauri. Each iWood heritage is numbered and comes with a certificate,” the company says.

Miniot claims to use Radio Carbon Dating tests to verify the age of Kauri wood, which it extracts from forests buried during the last ice age. Some of the pieces are (allegedly) half a million years old!

The iWood heritage is available from €175, and can ho higher, depending on the rareness of the wood and the production effort required. Optionally, customers can order a dock crafted out of matching wood.

You can visit Miniot here for more information on the iWood cases for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPod classic. More info on the “heritage” thing is available here.
