Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Valve that appeared back in 2004 and that has recently been ported to the Linux platform.

Porting a complex title such as Half-Life 2 (including Lost Coast, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Half-Life: Source) is a very difficult task, and the developers have released a lot of updates. A new patch has been released now by Valve, integrating a lot of new things.

Highlights of the latest Half-Life 2 Beta update:

• The readability of the UI in VR has been improved; • Dropdown has been added to enable VR mode in the Video options. The -vr command line option has been removed; • The ability to switch in and out of VR mode without quitting the game has been added; • Added support for VR mode on Linux has been added; • VR support to Half-Life: Source has been implemented.

More details about this update can be found in the official announcement. To access this patch, users will need to opt in the Beta program of Half-Life 2, from the Properties menu.
