Valve Software has changed the name of Half-Life 2: Aftermath to Half-Life 2: Episode One. Thus, it becomes clear that the developer is planning to release a series of episodic
updates to its best-selling first person shooter. This new approach was confirmed by Valve's Director of Marketing, Doug Lombardi.

Moreover, Valve designer Robin Walker has also declared that a second expansion "has been in development for some time". He has given no specific launch date for the expansion, presumably set after Half-Life 2: Episode One's April 24th planned release.

Walker has also said that "Episode One will not end with an all-encompassing conclusion" and has reassured gamers about the quality of the game content by stating that Valve has "to be considerate to our audience in terms of giving them what they want."
