Valve lets fans down

Is it that hard to develop a game nowadays? Seems that way, because Valve just revealed that they will not release Half-Life2: Episode Two in Q1 of 2007 anymore, but they have pushed its release date further along, namely for the summer.

I thought that summer was the perfect time to get a vacation and not release a game, but according to Valve's Doug Lombardi statement to CVG, Gordon Freeman will certanly get a tan. This delay will also have repercussions on Team Fortress 2 and Portal which are part of the Half-Life 2: Episode Two package.

The release of Episode was originally set for the end of 2006, but Valve pushed it for Q1 of 2007, and now, here comes another delay, and now it's a summer release. A valid explanation was not given but we can only speculate that Valve needs some extra time to finish the game's development.

The Half-Life game is planned out as a trilogy of expansion episodes, Episode Two being the second expansion in Valve's game. A teaser trailer for Episode Two is included in the first episode of Half-Life and can be viewed upon completing the game.
