Another Intel-based ultraportable makes its way on the market

Just like Intel Atom-based netbooks have created a real phenomenon in the PC industry, the same appears to happen to a more recent category, that of CULV-based ultraportable laptops. The platform appears to catch on to almost every notebook vendor, as we are seeing an increasing number of these laptops being announced. On that note, the less familiar PC vendor Haier is expected to roll out a new CULV laptop that will take on systems such as Acer's Timeline, MSI's X-Slim series and others.

Packed inside an ultrathin chassis, the Haier Jian i7 has nothing to do with Intel's upcoming line of mobile Core i7 processors, but rather with the chip maker's ULV CPUs. The laptop is said to sport Intel's Core 2 Dual ULV SU7300 processor, boasting a core speed of 1.3GHz, coupled with 2GB of DDR3 memory and 320GB of storage space. As most of the other slim, ultraportable laptops that have recently been launched, the Jian i7 has been featured with Intel's own integrated graphics solution.

The laptop is said to be 1.88cm thick and weigh in at 1.4kg, making it is a competitor for some of the other 13.4-inch such systems that are available on the market. Additional features include the three USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI connectivity and 4-cell 2900mAh Li-Ion battery pack. There's no word on the machine's operating system, but there's a good chance the PC vendor will wait until Microsoft's Windows 7 launches, to come out with an official launch.

Although the pricing is yet to be confirmed, the fellows over at zol.com.cn, who have been lucky enough to get their hands on an early model, estimated the system at around US$882. Unfortunately, the PC vendor is yet to announce the official specifications, pricing and availability date of its new Jian i7 ultraportable PC.
