All individuals who purchased items with their credit cards from Aultman Hospital’s gift shop between February and September 2012 are at risk because hackers managed to penetrate the shop’s systems.

The Press-News informs that no health information was affected, but the Ohio medical institution is still investigating the extent of the breach.

The computers impacted as a result of the incident have been replaced and law enforcement authorities have been called in.

Potential victims are advised to keep a close eye on their financial statements to identify fraudulent transactions as soon as possible in case they occur. In the meantime, credit card companies are prepared to alert impacted individuals in case any suspicious activity is detected.

Furthermore, additional security measures are being implemented to prevent future incidents.
