A leak of all the credit card personal identification numbers (PINs) in the world sounds like it could be the hack of the year. However, if you stop and think about it, it’s actually not a big deal at all.
A Pastebin paste
entitled “All credit card PIN codes in the world leaked” caught our attention (thanks to
Mikko Hypponen) because these days, when we hear the words “credit card” and “leak” next to each other, it’s usually something important.
This particular prank however shows that even if a leak is legitimate, it doesn’t necessarily have to expose Internet users.
In this case, all the 10,000 records are perfectly genuine; it’s just a question of associating them with the right credit card numbers.
In the past couple of weeks we’ve seen and reported many fake data breaches
, so we’ve decided to share something that perhaps puts a smile on the faces of those who are tired of investigating false claims.
