The site of the CIA was down for around one and a half hours

Anonymous hackers and their supporters have launched massive distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks against the official site of the Central Intelligence Agency (cia.gov) and the one of the US Department of Justice (DOD - justice.gov).

According to one of the hackers that participated in the attacks, the website of the CIA was down for around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

However, right after the attack on CIA ended, the one on the Department of Justice was initiated.

Currently, the CIA site seems to be working properly, but the one of the DOD is offline.

This is not the first time when the two sites are attacked by hacktivists. Back in January, when US federal authorities announced the closure of Megaupload, the popular file-sharing service, Anonymous hackers almost immediately launched DDOS attacks on a number of high-profile websites, among which the one of the Department of Justice.

The site of the CIA was previously taken down in February as part of [Expletive] FBI Friday, an operation purposed to target law enforcement agencies.
