Unidentified hackers have breached the website of the Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (washington.cr.k12.ia.us). They’ve defaced several pages with racist messages.

According to KCRG, in one of the posts, the hackers invited the site’s visitors to take part in a “KKK Klan Appreciation Day” on Christmas Eve. Several racist jokes were also displayed on the hijacked pages.

The offensive content was quickly pulled down by the website’s administrators.

Representatives of the school district say they’re uncertain who is behind the attack, but they’re working to find out how the attackers managed to breach the site, and address the vulnerabilities they exploited.

Due to the harsh content, authorities have also been called in to investigate the incident.
