Parked domains are in danger

A parked domain is a certain domain that is being used in advertising, as follows: Internet advertising publishers as well as domain name registrars want to make money off a website and the traffic that website has. The domain will usually contain lots of ads and links. Of course, these sites bring their owners some amount of cash (the money the owner gets are usually on a pay-per-click basis)?and that's when the hackers become interested.

Hackers know that such parked domains attract many users, because this is in the owners' interest so they can't help it. Now, what better way to spread malware than to infect such a site? Sure, many people have great up-to-date anti-viruses that protect them at all times, but the chances for one to infect another's computer are rising with the number of possible victims. Out of all the people that may visit a site in a certain period of time, some must be vulnerable, and that's when their little trojans act like gate openers.

ScanSafe has detected that hackers have made their way into the backbone of many sites parked at NameDrive and had their way with them, making the websites serve the well known Trojan virus. Hackers have always slipped trojans onto sites or e-mails in order to gain access to the normal users' computers, but this plan is brand new and a lot more effective since, instead of creating a new malicious site, they are "offering" this malware through websites that were somewhat trusted and known.

The way hackers acted in this new tactic has yet to be discovered as ScanSafe and NameDrive have joined forces on this. The most affected sites come from Germany and the Netherlands, but other sites have been touched by hackers as well.
