Turkish hackers of the TurkHackTeam have breached and defaced over 1,500 websites from all over the world in protests against China for its religious repression of Uyghur Muslims in East Turkestan.

“Amongst these sites were Chinese government, hospital, universities and similar education sites. Ones that belonged to politics people and racism broadcasting sites have been targeted,” the hackers stated.

“Also amongst these sites we have targeted some US, British, German and Israel sites to let the world know that were behind our brothers & sisters in east Turkestan,” they added.

Many of the targeted websites have been restored, but some of them still host the defacement pages added by the hackers. The complete list of defacement mirrors is available here.

HackRead reports that this isn’t the first time when Turkish hackers protest against the Chinese government’s actions in such a manner. Back in July, Turkish hackers defaced a total of 33 Chinese government websites.
