Microsoft’s in-house browser was hacked during the first day of the event

Microsoft brags about Internet Explorer 10 with every single occasion, outlining that the latest version of its in-house browser is the fastest and the safest build ever released.

It turns out that hacking Internet Explorer 10 isn’t such a tough challenge after all, as hackers managed to break into Windows 8 computers at Pwn2Own by exploiting two flaws in the browser.

While Firefox 19 and Java have also gone down in the first day of the competition, French security VUPEN said in a tweet that hacking a Windows 8 machine wasn’t such a difficult task.

“We've pwned MS Surface Pro with two IE10 zero-days to achieve a full Windows 8 compromise with sandbox bypass,” VUPEN wrote on Twitter.

Microsoft is obviously yet to release an official statement on this, but the good thing is that the software giant could use information provided by hackers to make its products a lot more secure.
