How would you react if the webcam-equipped baby monitor you’ve set up to watch your toddlers suddenly started cursing you and following you around the room? That’s precisely what happened to a family from Houston, Texas.

According to CNN, a hacker hijacked their router, and then the baby monitor that Marc Gilbert and his wife used to watch their 2-year-old daughter Allyson.

Once the hacker hijacked the monitor, he started shouting “Wake up Allyson, you little [expletive].” The attacker knew the girl’s name because it’s written on her wall.

When the parents came to the room, the camera moved on them and started calling them all sorts of things, ABC News reports. The hacker was apparently speaking with a British or European accent.

Gilbert immediately unplugged the device. He says he will stop using the baby monitor after the incident.

The man came forward with his story because he wants to warn other parents about the threats.

Experts have often warned that any smart device can be hacked. This is a perfect example that they’re right.
