The hacker responsible for making public the conference call between the FBI and the United Kingdom’s Metropolitan Police was among the individuals charged by authorities yesterday.

It turns out that Sabu, whose real identity was made public, helped the FBI track down a number of LulzSec and Anonymous members. Among them there was Donncha O’Cearrbhail, known in the hacking community as Palladium.

19-year-old O’Cearrbhail is suspected as being the one that hacked into the personal email account of an Irish Garda officer in January 2012.

Because the officer forwarded all his work messages to his personal inbox, the hacker was able to learn how to connect to the conference call law enforcement agencies held on January 17.

After recording the call, the suspect made it available online, starting the campaign against the FBI according to which, each Friday, websites and other assets connected with the Bureau would be targeted.

For this particular crime, O’Cearrbhail is separately charged with “intentionally disclosing an unlawfully intercepted wire communication,” his sentence totaling a maximum of 15 years in prison.
