14 DAY TRIAL // If you’ve ever wondered how black hat hackers operated and how they made money, here’s your chance to find out. A black hat hacker has answered several questions on the topic during an AmA (ask me anything) session on Reddit.
The hacker claims to own a 3-million-PC botnet dubbed the Black Shadow Project. The botnet, which he uses for spam and distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks, helps him earn between $15,000 (€11,000) and $20,000 (€15,000) per hour, he says.
“It took me nearly 3 years to code my bot from scratch. I can send 90 million spam emails a day. $150 for 1mil emails + ddos + banking,” he wrote.
In addition, the hacker claims to own a smaller Android botnet, of around 10,000 bots, which he also uses for spam.
