CyberZeist, the former member of the UGNazi collective, claims to have gained access to the system of Exxon Mobil, the world renowned oil and gas corporation.

As a result of the breach, a number of 316 user accounts, comprising email addresses and password hashes have been leaked online.

CyberZeist allegedly used the email accounts to sign a petition on Save the Arctic (savethearctic.org), a site operated by Greenpeace International.

This hack appears to be part of an Anonymous campaign called “Operation Save the Arctic,” which is aimed at “energy companies that caused the Arctic to melt.”

The list of targets of OpSaveTheArctic also includes Shell, Gazprom, Rosneft Petroleum and BP Global.

We haven’t been able to confirm the authenticity of the information published by the hacker, but we have contacted Exxon Mobil in the hope of obtaining more details.

Update. Exxon Mobile representatives state that they can't comment on security issues.
