On Thursday, John Anthony Borell III, the Anonymous hacker known as “Kahuna” or “ItsKahuna,” published a statement on Pastebin. A link to the document was posted on his old Twitter account.

The hacker has been sentenced to 3 years in prison and 3 years of supervised release. He will also have to pay $227,736 (€169,144) in restitution.

Borell has clarified that he hasn’t cooperated with authorities. In order to demonstrate it, he has provided a couple of screenshots of his pre-sentence report (PSR) which shows that his sentence hasn’t been reduced as it would have been if he had collaborated with the feds.

The clarifications come after numerous people accused him of “snitching” on various hackers.

“This has been saddening to me since the start. I don't know where all of these rumors began, but they were started off of assumptions and just grew into something bigger and bigger. The constant flip-flop of everyone as to their view of it has not ceased to amaze me,” Borell said.

In addition to demonstrating that he hasn’t ratted out any of his fellow hackers, the man has also expressed his views on the Jeremy Hammond (sup_g) case. He says the 10-year prison sentence is “ridiculous.” He also believes that Judge Loretta Preska should have recused herself considering that her husband was among those affected by the Stratfor hack.

He has also thanked the people who have supported him and the ones he had collaborated with throughout the years.

ItsKahuna concluded his statement with a warning.

“More and more freedoms are taken away from us. They are taken away little by little, under whatever reason they choose to give at the time, be it in the name of national security or something else. People go about their everyday lives not caring even the slightest as their freedoms are taken right in front of their eyes,” he said.

“Something that never made any sense to me at all. Privacy is becoming a forgotten thing of the past as mass surveillance has progressed as an everyday thing in the world.”
