The English thought it up

Knowing the rate of cyber-crime the UK has it's no wonder they're trying to think of anything that might work to take it down. Now, a few Lords are asking Internet Service Providers to "Police" the Internet. There is no law for this just yet, but it all just seems ethical and logical to me...

I'm no expert on Internet providing, but I do know that traffic is not so hard to monitor. And if that isn't so difficult, how about the type of traffic? And by that, I mean, do the ISPs have any idea if you're surfing, downloading or streaming? Of course they do! And if they don't know, it wouldn't be too hard for them to find out. I'm just guessing here, but I think they might design a program that can track hacker activity and block Internet access to that user, the minute it identifies it as a hacker. Like any security software, I think it will end up showing some false positives but it would be a good way to lash out hackers.

If that is just a dream of mine, I know for sure that an ISP can build a blacklist of sites, so that users will not get any viruses. However, some people deploy heavy-weight anti-viruses, just so that they can safely navigate on any site. Since they know that they're safe no matter what, they might not like access restrictions, but blacklisting malware site is utilitarianism. The good choice for the many is more important than the good choice for the few...

I have no idea if these measures are going to be installed in the UK, or in other countries, but I'd sure like to see more measures taken against hacking. Keep in mind that it's not the ISP's fault that you get infected from navigating who knows what site - it's your choice where you surf and ignoring security measures will cost you!
