A hacker that uses the online moniker “Valium” claims to have breached the systems of Romanian telecommunications services provider AdNet Telecom, a company whose datacenters host the servers of several major organizations, including Google and Akamai.

According to Cik.Ro’s Adrian Tanase (report in Romanian), the hacker says he has gained access to the company’s servers, including customer databases, FTP servers, and VDS/VPS servers.

He has published an archive file online allegedly representing the database and FTP server backups for AdNet’s DataCity website.

In addition to the backups, the hacker has also published a video and several screenshots to demonstrate that he has access to AdNet’s systems.

In a post on a Romanian hacker forum, Valium says he has breached the telecoms company’s systems to prove a point to those who think they’re better than him. He noted that it all started as a game, but he ultimately ended up having access to most AdNet servers.

The video and the files published online were subsequently removed by the hacker. He hasn’t motivated the decision to delete the thread from the forum on which he is an administrator.

This wouldn’t be the first time AdNet suffers a data breach. Back in early November, a Saudi hacker called King of Control defaced both the adnettelecom.ro and datacity.ro domains.

However, at the time, there wasn’t any evidence to suggest that the hacker gained access to any sensitive information. The company didn’t make any public statement regarding the incident.

At the time of writing, AdNet’s websites appear to be working properly. However, if the breach is real and customer information might have been compromised, the company may be notifying impacted parties privately.
