The Chilean presidency was almost shocked on Monday when some officials tried to access the official website and instead of seeing their content, they loaded the official flag of Peru. In addition, a large message was attached: "Long live Peru," it read according to the Associated Press. The authorities acknowledged that they were hacked and took the website down in order to republish the original content and remove the one uploaded by the hacker. "Because we want to give a better service, we are working for you," the unavailable message stated according to the same source. At this time, the government's representatives are investigating the case so new details are expected anytime soon.

"It has happened with other Web pages, including some from the United States government, the Vatican," Carlos Portales, political director of the Chilean foreign ministry said for the Associated Press. According to the officials, the hacker was probably a Peruvian which is pretty obvious since it planted this country's flag on the Chilean presidency website.

I hope the hacker knows that this action might cost him a huge fine as well as several years in prison and all of these for what? For a simple national message posted on the Chilean website. The Associated Press tried to find one reason which made the hacker attack the page: "while Chile and Peru have generally friendly relations, tension sporadically breaks out over the aftermath of two 19th century wars between the countries and a dispute over maritime boundaries has been developing."

Certainly, all the websites on the web must install security solutions because it's obvious that no page is safe these days. At this time, there are lots of software technologies but the hackers are also developing new techniques to break into certain website, trying to exploit software vulnerabilities and even the users' naivety.
