Now that's really weird. I haven't heard of such a hack going on in a very, very long time. Nowadays hackers are driven by financial considerations and those that hack sites and modify them (without anything being related to money) usually do it to send out a message. That was the case of the
Turkish hackers that attacked more than 5.000 Swedish sites. But something rather dubious has happened with Ivy Tech's site

Many of you have probably never heard of Ivy before, but let me tell you that the Ivy Tech College is one of the larges learning institutions in the United States, ranking second in Indiana. Well, just like any respected learning institution, they have their own website. When surfing to their site, several images of friendly students will greet you on their homepage. But hackers had attacked them and replaced those pictures with the ones of two men holding large-caliber weapons, as IndyStar informs. So what was the purpose of all this? Well, no one can tell, and to be frank, this is just something annoying rather than something that would pose a threat to cyber-security.

However, the hackers' actions have also shown that their website is vulnerable and that it needs fixing. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that did this actually did it just to show them they have flaws, without any bad intentions at all.

As the same source informs, Ivy Tech spokesman Tom McCool said the school does not keep sensitive student information on the site and there is no reason to believe anything important was taken by the hackers.

In any case, the site is online now and operating at normal standards. I've surfed it and clicked on a lot of links, but nothing suspicious popped up.
