Grooveshark, one of the most popular music sites out there, is now available on Windows Phones as well, courtesy of the recently launched HTML5-enabled mobile version.

Owners of a Windows Phone-powered handset can now head over to the beta version of the mobile site right through the Internet Explorer browser to benefit from access to the large library of songs that Grooveshark features.

The website’s interface offers Windows Phone owners all the features they might have expected, including a Search section, along with Stations or Popular categories.

Those who will access the mobile website will be able to search for favorite songs, as well as access various stations on the go, all straight from their mobile phone. All they need to do is go to the beta site and start searching for their favorite music.

Grooveshark’s new HTML5 site arrives on Windows Phone handsets courtesy of help coming from Ben Riga, technical evangelist on the Windows Phone team, and Eric Lawrence, program manager at Microsoft, wp7lab notes.

Moreover, James Hartig explains in a recent post on Dev Jar how Grooveshark’s new HTML5 site actually made it to Windows Phone, although it was initially said not to arrive there.

“[Ben Riga] discussed the issues with Eric Lawrence, Program Manager at Microsoft, who sent me an example of how to use postMessage to create a “proxy” for the HTTPS requests the site made,” James Hartig notes.

“I had previously tried doing this but I was using document.write in the callstack of getting a message and it was throwing an error saying “HTTPS security is compromised”.

“Removing this call and using Eric’s site as a guide, I successfully made a proxy for Grooveshark’s site. Windows Phone 7 users running Mango can now use the site to listen to their favorite tunes on the go,” James Hartig concludes. The mobile Grooveshark website is accessible via devices powered by other mobile platforms as well, including Android and iOS.
