Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to bring to the market a new series of tablet PCs before the end of the ongoing year, and the first of them would enter mass production as soon as June, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

Apparently, the company would be ready to ramp up production for the 10.1-inch tablet PC that was spotted into the wild before under the name of HTC Puccini.

The device, supposedly packing a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 1.5GHz processor and based on Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, was said to be headed to the United States market on the airwaves of AT&T.

Apparently, the new device would arrive on shelves with a hybrid touchscreen display, featuring both capacitive and resistive capabilities.

The same as the company's first tablet PC, the HTC Flyer, the new device would sport a digital stylus, so that its owners could use the display in new ways.

Moreover, the powerful dual core application processor should enable the device provide users with far better performance capabilities than rival solutions. The tablet would also sport 4G capabilities.

Not to mention that it would run under the Honeycomb OS, most probably with HTC's UI on it, which would add some extra features into the mix as well.

Although a little late to the tablet PC party, HTC is clearly set to make its device one of the most appealing on the market, to easily rival slates like the Apple iPad, or the Samsung Galaxy Tab series.

For the time being, nothing was confirmed on the existence of this tablet PC, nor on the specs it would pack when made available for purchase.

No specific info on the release date for the upcoming device was confirmed either, but, provided that HTC indeed kicks off mass production in June, we should see it on shelves on the next few months, that's for sure.
