Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to unveil to the world its first Windows Phone 8 handsets as soon as this month, and a specific date for that has just emerged online.

Apparently, the company has started to send out invites to a press event set to take place on September 19th in New York City, and all the magic is expected to happen there.

At least two devices powered by Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8 operating system have been rumored to make an official appearance on that day, aimed at the mid- and high-end segments of the market.

One of them should be the HTC Accord, which has recently been rumored to be en-route to shelves as the Windows Phone 8X by HTC.

The second one is said to be unveiled as HTC 8S – or Windows Phone 8S by HTC, if the same naming scheme is preserved – and appears to be the previously leaked Zenith.

However, as far as the rumored hardware specifications for these devices go, it seems that each might actually sport the marketing name of the other device.

As Pocket-lint points out, previous rumors have suggested that Zenith and Accord will sport screen sizes of 4.7-inch and 4.3-inch, respectively.

However, the naming scheme appears to be in line with the one used for the Android-based One series, which would involve 8X having a 4.7-inch screen, and the 8S packing a 4.3-inch display.

With Accord recently rumored to be the 8X, we can expect it to actually sport a 4.7-inch screen, and not the 4.3-inch one it has been said to pack. It would make more sense for it to be branded as 8S, that’s for sure.

However, there’s also the possibility that HTC has decided to go for smaller screens on its Windows Phone 8 devices, and that the 4.3-inch 8X would be the larger of them, though we highly doubt that. After all, Titan II does sport a huge 4.7’’ panel.

As mentioned above, all on the matter should be unveiled as soon as September 19th, at an event that might also have something to do with Android, it seems. HTC sent out invites for that day to both Android and Windows Phone bloggers, BriefMobile reports.
