Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to come to the market with its first tablet PC sometime in March, while being set to launch some other similar devices during the first half of the ongoing year.

The first tablet PC from HTC should arrive on shelves under the name of Flyer, and is expected to run under Google's newly released Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The same as Samsung's Galaxy Tab, the upcoming HTC Flyer tablet PC is said to look much alike a high-end smartphone. Basically, it would arrive as an enlarged version of the HTC Desire smartphone.

A recent article on DigiTimes notes that there would be three different tablets coming from HTC in the first six months of 2011, at least this is what sources at handset component suppliers suggest.

The mobile phone maker is expected to make the Flyer tablet PC available for purchase on the US market in March, most probably launching it via a wireless carrier in the country.

Apparently, the company is set to make is device available for purchase before competitive products like the BlackBerry PlayBook or the Motorola Xoom hit shelves, which should be released in March and April, respectively.

Although it would arrive on shelves with the Android 2.3 OS version on board, the tablet PC should allow users to upgrade to the newer Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform iteration as soon as the OS is made available.

The US market would be only the first area where HTC plans on selling the tablet PC, it seems. More countries would see it available in the second quarter of the ongoing year.

As for the other two HTC tablet PCs that would arrive from the leading handset vendor, they should hit shelves with Android 3.0 on board sometime in June.

This is not the first time we learn that HTC might bring tablet PCs to the market, though it is the first time that some more solid info on them emerge. Hopefully, more on this would emerge in the near future, so stay tuned to learn additional info on the matter.
