Hopefully HTC will surprise us with better specifications

The Nexus 9 was the first tablet HTC ever produced in years. Yes, the device was launched under the Google banner, but the Taiwanese company was still expected to make a comeback to slate-making.

This summer we had heard rumors saying HTC was working on two or more tablets, but eventually the gossip died down and nothing was heard of these mythical devices.

Well, new information according to which HTC is indeed looking to make a re-appearance in the tablet world has just surfaced via Twitter account @upleaks.

HTC is re-making the Nexus 9

Apparently, HTC’s first actual tablet will be a Nexus 9-based device. That means the slate will look very similar to Google’s recent slob, as it will have the same dimensions.

However, in the spec department you should expect to see something different. Sadly, the source does not indicate if HTC is going to downgrade them or boost them up.

Google’s Nexus 9 is quite an impressive tablet which has graced the markets with an 8.9-inch LCD display (notably one of the few Android tablets on the market with a 4:3 aspect ratio, although Samsung is prepping a whole bunch of them) boasting 2,048 x 1,536 pixel resolution.

The tablet is one of the first to be powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 dual-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz fitted with 2GB of DDR3 memory.

Other specs include an 8MP shooter with led flash, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and LTE.

Hopefully HTC will add better specs

The specs are pretty powerful, but HTC could surprise us by introducing a tablet taking advantage of the new Snapdragon 810 or, who knows, even NVIDIA’s next-gen Tegra X1 chip.

The first tablet poised to come bundling this particular architecture has already leaked and is expected to arrive as the next-gen NVIDIA Shield tablet.

In less than a month, HTC is coming to MWC 2015 in Barcelona where it is expected to show the world its upcoming flagship smartphone, the One (M9).

But if you were hoping to see the tablet make a debut into the wild in Barcelona, we hate to burst your bubble. It appears HTC has no plans of revealing the new slate in Q1 2015, so we might have to wait a while before we actually get to see it.
