Users in the United States will soon be able to acquire new Windows Phones in their country, Microsoft, AT&T, HTC and Nokia announced at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

In the coming months, we should see two new Windows Phone devices made available in the country, the HTC Titan II and the Nokia Lumia 900, both of which offer support for LTE connectivity.

These are the first Windows Phones in the world to provide users with access to the faster connectivity technology, though more of them will certainly arrive in the not too distant future.

The release of HTC Titan II and Nokia Lumia 900 brings Windows Phone to a wider range of users in the United States and is meant to help the platform gain some more market share.

Both smartphones are high-end, packing fast application processors and large touchscreen displays, while being capable of delivering support for a variety of services created for them.

The HTC Titan II sports a 4.7-inch touchscreen display, along with a fast single-core 1.5GHz application processor. It also sports a 16-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording, complemented by a 1.3MP front camera for video calling.

“Its big rear camera, meanwhile, features a fast wide-angle lens (f2.6, 28mm), autofocus, and dual LED flash. Shutterbugs will appreciate extras like red eye reduction, image stabilization, a panorama mode for landscapes, and a burst shot mode for sports or kids,” Michael Stroh notes in a blog post.

As for Nokia Lumia 900, it will land on shelves at AT&T as yet another great Windows Phone, packing a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and a 1.4GHz application processor inside, along with around 14GB of internal memory.

It features an 8-megapixel camera with support for HD video recording, as well as a front snapper for video calling. It also comes loaded with the Tango application to enable the capability.

These are not the only new LTE smartphones unveiled to the world at CES 2012, but they do represent a great step forward for Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

Windows Phone has been lagging behind more popular Android and iOS platforms, and has lost market share to BlackBerry too.

These new smartphones for the US market are meant to address that. They show that the OS can deliver the flexibility that many users are looking for, especially when the latest network technologies were involved.
