Industry sources claim the HTC high-end tablet in the news last week is the Nexus 10

The annoying next-gen Nexus 10 is back in the rumor mill again, with recent information pointing to the fact HTC is ready to partner up with Google again, to bring the device to life.

Last week was the scene for a really interesting rumor. Despite word circulating around the web that Google is ready to discontinue its Nexus line and take up the Play Edition moniker instead (or something else altogether), Asian sources seem to claim the truth remains somewhere out there.

According to them, HTC is ready to come back to work with Google once more (recall that the two companies worked together for the original Nexus?) and this time produce a high-end Nexus tablet. But last week we could only speculate which Nexus slate that might be.

Now, according to industry sources reported by infamous publication DigiTimes, we are led to believe HTC will be the maker of the elusive next-gen Nexus 10.

The tablet has been in the rumor mill extensively and an impressive number of leaks vouched for its existence. For starters, the new Nexus 10 was said to be coming out of LG, but this theory turned out to be inaccurate.

We should also remind you, before CES 2014, DigiTimes claimed the Samsung-made next-gen Nexus 10 will be making an appearance at the trade show in Las Vegas, something that, as we all know, didn’t happen. So this information should be taken with a grain of salt, even if it concurs with the news we saw coming out of Asia, last week.

HTC reportedly refused to partner up with Google for the production of the first-gen Nexus 7 back in 2012, prompting Google to turn to ASUS instead, which resulted in a rather fruitful partnership.

On the other hand, the Samsung and Google’s joint venture wasn’t so rosy, as Nexus 10 shipments failed to raise to expectations, so HTC is facing a difficult venture here if all of this turns out to be true, of course.
