Should launch it soon, rumor has it

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly getting ready to unveil to the world a new handset, one that should run under Microsoft's yet unannounced Windows Mobile 7 operating system, it seems. Rumors on such a device already emerged around the Internet, yet it seems that this might actually be another phone than what we've heard of before.

The guys over at WMPoweruser caught word from mobile-review's Eldar Muntazin via Twitter, learning that an HTC mobile phone that runs under the Windows Mobile 7 OS is set to be launched soon. While this might end up proving to be just a rumor, of which we had plenty during the past few weeks, there are also chances that HTC is set to soon launch another device than the already expected HTC Obsession.

According to Eldar Muntazin, the said device should sport “WM7 minimal requirements,” such as 8GB of internal memory, an application processor clocked in at 1GHz, FM radio, a 3.6-inch display with a WVGA resolution, compass, G-sensor, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper. At the same time, the phone also seems to include a 1850 mAh battery inside, one that is said to be “working only 6-7 hours.”

One thing that is certain here is that the handset's specs are as plausible as possible, though one should agree that the launch time frame does not add to what is already known about Microsoft's Windows Mobile 7 platform. Even if we would like to believe that the Redmond-based company is set to deliver WM 7 on the market in early 2010, as originally slated, the reports on it from the past several months suggested that we would taste it only in late 2010.

For what it's worth, having yet another Windows Mobile 7-based mobile phone from HTC gearing up for a launch during this year is a nice thing. Its HD2 handset is one of the nicest devices powered by Microsoft's mobile OS, even if it comes with a great deal of issues, and future phones in the series can only enhance the experience that users will receive.
