One powerful smartphone

HTC has many impressive smartphones in store, all waiting for their close release. HTC Wings (S730) is only one of them, aimed especially at those who would rather use old fashioned buttons instead of a touchscreen, no matter how appealing this feature might be for others.

Just as all other handsets waiting for a close release, HTC Wings (S730) brings some impressive specifications, which reveal it to be a powerful phone. It runs on a 400 MHz processor and uses Windows Mobile 6 Standard, which earns it a place among the best smartphones out there. It also has 128 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM, but also supports microSD, microSDHC and TransFlash expansion slots.

The great advantage that HTC Wings brings over other smartphones is that it includes both a numeric and a QWERTY keypad, for making the best of its functionality. This takes care of all the problems regarding getting used to touchscreens and also makes it possible to enter long texts easily. The downside of this feature is that the phone is at a disadvantage when it comes to sizes. Still, at 50 x 100 x 19 millimetres and 120 grams, it is a highly compact smartphone.

The handset comes equipped with a 2.4 inch screen capable of supporting a resolution of up to 240 x 320 pixels, which is quite impressive, as the numeric keypad would have been expected to take up a large amount of the phone's surface. Connectivity is available through Bluetooth and USB, although there are some specifications even more impressive. HTC Wings (S730) is a 3G enabled smartphone, capable of bringing HSDPA transfers. This also explains the presence of a secondary camera, for placing video calls at just the right quality.

HTC Wings should be out on the market before the end of the year, although an exact release date is yet unknown.
