Following the recent release of the highly-acclaimed Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, regional carrier has introduced another Android device, the HTC Wildfire S.

Although the handset is nowhere near Samsung's flagship smartphone, it's still an attractive alternative for those who want to taste Gingerbread, but don't want to spend loads of money.

Customers can purchase SaskTel's Wildfire S starting this week for $29.99 with a new three-year contract, $149.99 with a new two-year agreement, $229.99 with a new one-year contract or $299.99 on monthly payment.

It appears that the price options offered by SaskTel are no different than Virgin Mobile's deals for the HTC Wildfire S, so it's just a matter of taste and/or network coverage.

In fact, SaskTel is one of the last Canadian carriers to pick HTC's entry-level Android smartphones.

It is also worth mentioning that SaskTel Wildfire S is available for purchase in two colors: black and white.

The handset goes as one of the most popular low-budget Android-powered smartphones manufactured by the Taiwanese handset manufacturer.

It is equipped with a slow 600 MHz processor, but runs Google's Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system.

The smartphone has been confirmed to be delivered with the manufacturer's latest proprietary HTC Sense 3.0 user-friendly interface running on top of the mobile platform.

Packed with Google's full suite of apps, HTC Wildfire S allows users to access services such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk.

Furthermore, the Wildfire S has a 3.2-inches capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

In addition, the budget smartphone sports an average 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash.

It packs a standard amount of memory, including 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The HSDPA-enabled entry-level smartphone comes with integrated GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

On related news, the phone is expected to make its debut at T-Mobile USA on August 3rd.
