One of the last HTC smartphones introduced by the Taiwanese handset manufacturer during the 2011 Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, the HTC Wildfire S is about to make its debut in the UK.

Major UK retailer Clove confirmed that the first stock of the Wildfire S is due to arrive today and will be available for £199 + VAT.

However, only the black version of the smartphone will be available for purchase, while the silver model will arrive in stock next week.

The first stock of the HTC Wildfire S Black is due to arrive at Clove Technology tomorrow, with the Silver variant following next week.”

It appears that the phone will hit the shelves sooner than expected, as the retailer has previously listed the phone as being available at the end of May.

The HTC Wildfire S is the living proof that Gingerbread works very well on entry-level handsets.

Equipped with a low 600 MHz processor, as well as 512 MB ROM and 512 MB RAM, the Wildfire S comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

The phone's display is protected against scratches and accidental drops by resistant Gorilla glass and sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.

The HTC Sense user-friendly interface runs on top of Android 2.3 and provides users with a wide range of customization options, along with maximum functionality offered by Google's mobile platform.

The HSDPA-enabled entry-level smartphone comes with integrated GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Packed with Google's full suite of apps, HTC Wildfire S allows users to access services such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk.

As a side note, other UK retailers like Amazon are still listing the Wildfire S as being available on May 6, but this might change in the following days.
