Although Wildfire S was initially slated for a June 1st release, it appears that Virgin Mobile pushed back the launch date, as the phone is expected to hit shelves in the next few days.
The Wildfire S is already available for purchase in Canada via Bell, but the smartphone was also confirmed by regional carrier SaskTel.
According to the guys over at MobileSyrup, HTC Wildfire S 4G will be available for purchase for $249.99 upfront, $199.99 on Prepaid, and $29.99 on the Virgin SuperTab or a new three-year agreement.
The phone's price tag is no surprise at all, but customers who are looking for a better deal and are not bothered to be tied by a long term contract can obtain the Wildfire S for free from Bell upon signing a new three-year agreement.
HTC Wildfire S is one of most popular entry-level Android-based smartphones manufactured by the Taiwanese handset maker.
The phone is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz processor and runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread out-of-the-box.
The smartphone has been confirmed to be delivered with the manufacturer's latest proprietary HTC Sense 3.0 user-friendly interface running on top of the operating system.
That should provide users with a wide range of customization options, along with maximum functionality offered by Google's mobile services.
Furthermore, the Wildfire S comes with a 3.2-inches capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.
In addition, the budget smartphone sports an average 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash.
It packs a standard amount of memory, including 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
The HSDPA-enabled entry-level smartphone comes with integrated GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.
Packed with Google's full suite of apps, HTC Wildfire S allows users to access services such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk.
