Sprint has just got its own flavor of Galaxy S II available for purchase, with a larger 4.5-inch screen and a powerful 1.2GHz application inside, and it seems that Verizon too is gearing up for the release of a high-end, greatly appealing device, namely the HTC Vigor, which has just emerged in what appears to be a leaked press photo with it. The mobile phone was spotted into the wild a few times before, and it has even received the necessary approvals from the FCC, yet nothing has been officially announced on it for the time being.

However, given the fact that the first press photo with HTC Vigor was already has leaked into the wild, it might not be too long before Verizon actually makes a formal announcement on its availability, that's for sure.

Rumor has it that it might be unveiled as soon as next month, during the press event that HTC has already announced for New York City, and that it might be accompanied by other devices as well.

When made available for purchase at Verizon, the new HTC Vigor will boast a dual-core application processor with each core clocked in at 1.5GHz, and with a large touchscreen display that should boast a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution.

The new Android-based mobile phone will also offer support for the wireless carrier's 4G LTE network, which means that it is poised both for high-performance, as well as for increased speeds.

The new handset is expected to run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and should also include Beats Audio technology, it seems.

Chances are that this will be the first HD smartphone to arrive on shelves in the United States or elsewhere, though it remains to be seen when exactly it hits the market.

Apparently, there is the possibility that the new device might be released under the name of HTC Thunderbolt 2 at Verizon, though the Vigor name remains a strong possibility as well.
