Aussie Android fans are the first to take advantage of the LTE-enabled HTC Velocity 4G. The smartphone was launched a few weeks ago in Australia and is now available for purchase through major carrier Telstra.

However, the folks over at The Unwired spotted the European version of the smartphone earlier last month. According to them, HTC Velocity 4G is about to hit shelves in Germany via major carrier Vodafone.

It appears that the European operator plans to announce the smartphone next week, though there’s no telling whether or not the phone will be available for purchase at the time of the official announcement. No word on the price either, but this one will surely be heavily subsidized by Vodafone Germany.

HTC Velocity 4G runs Google’s Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system with HTC Sense 3.5 user interface. The phone is scheduled for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime in Q2 2012, but HTC has yet to unveil the exact release date of the update.

With a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, HTC Velocity 4G will surely appease to the most demanding Android fans.

Moreover, the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory (13GB user available), 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Velocity 4G is a big device, as the phone sports a large 4.5-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen displays with 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

In addition, the phone boasts an impressive 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.

Other highlights of the superphone include LTE and Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, TV-out via MHL A/V link, as well as built-in GPS with A-GPS support and active noise cancellation with dedicated mic.
