Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just made more of its customers happy by adding new device models to the list of handsets that can have their bootloaders unlocked.

New HTC EVO 3D and Sensation models can now be unlocked via the dedicated website HTC has put in place for developers and end-users alike.

Initially, only the European flavor of HTC Sensation was present on the said website last month, but the company has added the HTC EVO 3D flavor on Sprint's airwaves to that list only a few weeks after that, and updated the page with even more Sensation models several days ago.

Now, more handset models can be seen listed on the said website as offering users the possibility to unlock their bootloaders, including the HTC EVO 3D at Rogers, or the EMEA flavor of this device.

Rogers' version of the mobile phone needs to run under firmware 1.20.631.2 to enjoy the unlocked bootloader, while the EMEA flavor has to have the software version 1.20.401.2 loaded on it.

As for the HTC Sensation, in addition to the previously listed models, we can count the Sensation for SKT Korea as having access to the bootloader Unlocker, as long as it runs under firmware 1.45.911.2.

Those who would like to unlock the bootloader on their devices should know that they will be doing so at their own risk, and that they will be the only ones to be held responsible for any issues that might emerge during the process.

“HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices,” the company notes.

Moreover, the handset vendor warns users that they should not try to unlock the bootloaders on their devices, and that there are risks they should take into consideration.

“We strongly suggest that you do not unlock the bootloader unless you are confident that you understand the risks involved. This is a technical procedure and the side effects could possibly necessitate repairs to your device not covered under warranty,” the company explains.

“If you are still interested in unlocking the bootloader, and you understand the consequences both to your device and to your warranty, then you may refer to the following pages where we have provided the unlocking instructions.”
