Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has been long rumored to plan the launch of a Windows Phone 7-based device from HTC, the Trophy, and some more info on the price that this device might feature when made available started to emerge.

Update: Verizon already made the new smartphone official, for $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. It would be launched on May 26th online and on June 2nd in stores.

Apparently, the HTC Trophy might arrive at Costco with a price tag of $149.99 attached to it upon the signing of a contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

The good news would be that the device would arrive with a leather case and car charger included into the package, although it makes a rather late appearance on shelves.

Indeed, the smartphone was expected to arrive on Verizon's network ever since early 2011, or at the end of the first quarter of the year, at the same time with Sprint's own Windows Phone device, the HTC Arrive.

Last year, only AT&T and T-Mobile launched Windows Phone 7-based handsets, while Sprint and Verizon, the two large CDMA carriers in the United States, were said to receive their devices during the first half of the ongoing year.

The Trophy is now where to be seen as of yet, although it is already listed on Verizon's website, and even emerged in various catalogs.

However, the second quarter of the year is not over yet, and Verizon would still have time to bring the handset to its shelves.

According to some, this could happen before May is over, and the fact that dummy units already arrived at retailers might be seen as a proof of that.

Previously, the mobile phone was spotted with a coming soon tag attached to it over at Best Buy, and with a price tag of $600 on it, without a contract agreement.

Hopefully, Verizon would indeed aim at launching its Windows Phone device before the end of May, and more info on this would emerge in the near future.
