Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to bring to the market in the United States its first Windows Phone 7 device, supposedly the HTC Trophy, within a matter of days, most probably today, March 24th.

The handset has been rumored to be on its way to Verizon ever since the Windows Phone 7 OS was launched in October last year, and even made an appearance on the carrier's website, so things are almost confirmed.

However, it appears that there might be two flavors of this mobile phone on their way to Verizon Wireless, and that one of them would sport global connectivity capabilities.

The CDMA version of this Windows Phone 7 device passed through FCC back in January, with model number PC40200, followed only recently by another variant, which sports model number PC40210.

Unlike the first model, the new flavor of the device comes with both CDMA and GSM bands on board, which would make it a world phone.

In all fairness, previous rumors suggested that the HTC Trophy would indeed arrive at the wireless carrier as a world phone sometime in June, but we assumed that there would be only one model in store for Verizon's customers.

According to the guys over at Pocketnow, the new Trophy variant is the one expected to arrive on shelves at Verizon, though they have no idea on what would the previously spotted variant of the device turn out to be.

Rumor has it that Verizon will make the Trophy official as soon as today, or even put it on shelves before the day is over, but no official confirmation on this has emerged until now.

Provided that the supposition would pan out, we should be able to learn specific info on the handset shortly, and we'll see whether Verizon would launch the CDMA-only flavor now, or it would make available the world phone right from the start, and not in June, as said before.
