Only a few weeks ago, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has made available for purchase its very first handset running under Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system, and the device has already seen price cuts, one of them being put in place at Amazon. Verizon made the device available for purchase at $149.99 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement, but Amazon removed $100 from the phone's cost.

Moreover, in addition to offering the HTC Trophy for only $49.99 on contract, the leading retailer added a $25 Amazon.com Gift Card into the mix, which sweetens the deal even more.

From now until June 30, 2011, users who will purchase any Windows Phone device from Amazon will benefit from the said deal. “The Gift Card code will be sent via e-mail within 5 business days of shipment,” the company notes.

The HTC Trophy is ready to roam the globe with compatibility with wireless voice service and data coverage in more than 200 countries--with more than 125 offering 3G data speeds,” Amazon mentions.

“It also sports a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and HD 720p video recording, 16 GB of memory, Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, an FM radio, and up to 4.9 hours of talk time.”

The new Windows Phone device comes with a 3.8-inch touchscreen display into the mix, complemented by a fast 1 GHz Snapdragon application processor for increased performance capabilities.

The handset was launched with support for quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) frequencies and 3G networks (850/1900/2100 MHz), as well as for CDMA 800/1900 bands, and EV-DO, Rev A 3G connectivity.

HTC Trophy measures 4.67 x 2.42 x 0.47 inches, weighs in at 4.9 ounces, and packs a 1300 mAh lithium-ion battery inside.

The same as other Windows Phone devices, it can offer support for various services from Microsoft, including Xbox LIVE, Zune, or the Windows Phone Marketplace for downloading various applications to expand its functionality.
