Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just released a new firmware update for one of its mobile phones currently available on the market, namely the Windows Mobile 6.5-based HTC Touch2. The new software solution comes from the handset vendor as an update for the phone's capability to deliver weather updates to its owners, the company says.

“This update for HTC Touch2 allows us to bring you updates wherever your location, so you know the relevant weather information for where you are, no matter if you are on a 3G or a 2G network,” is what HTC notes on its support page. At the same time, the company also states that the new update is only available for handsets with ROM versions equal to 1.30.XXX.X or lower.

The update process is very simple, and most of you might be already familiar with it. First of all, one needs to make sure that the proper software is installed on a computer, namely Microsoft ActiveSync on a Windows XP PC or Windows Mobile Device Center on a Windows Vista PC. Next, a synchronization between the handset and the PC should be performed, via a USB cable, after which the device is ready for the update.

The new software solution for the HTC Touch2 is available for download on HTC's website here. It is an .exe file, and users will only need to tap it and follow the on-screen instruction afterwards. However, one should also take notice of the fact that the update will be lost if a hard reset of the device is performed, which means that one should go through the update process again in such a case.

The new firmware update follows shortly a recent series of updates HTC has released for another Windows Mobile-powered handset on the market, the HTC HD2. One thing that is certain here is that the company already affirmed its commitment to deliver a great experience to its users, and it started to prove to the world that things are this way.
