Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced on Wednesday the launch of its new HTC Touch2 in Singapore. The new Windows phone comes to the Singaporean market with Microsoft's newly launched Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, as well as with the services related to it, including the Windows Marketplace for Mobile and MyPhone.

According to its maker, the new HTC Touch2 is capable of offering a full touch experience to any user, ensuring that all that one would like to have on the device is easily accessible. Not only that everything is at the user's fingertips with the new Windows phone, but it also comes in a compact design and fits comfortably in the hand, the company says.

The HTC Touch2 delivers a familiar touch experience that millions of people have come to expect and rely on from HTC in their daily lives,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation. “Whether it’s making a call, checking in with a friend or simply responding to an important email, the HTC Touch2 puts you in touch and in control.”

The features brought by HTC Touch2 include the TouchFLO user interface, which comes with integrated weather updates and with fast access to a wide range of applications, not to mention that the phone sports Google Maps for Mobile and easy access to YouTube. In addition, synchronization with Microsoft Exchange is also present with the device, as well as the powerful messaging, browsing and productivity capabilities that Windows Mobile 6.5 comes along with.

The new Windows phone comes with a re-designed Internet Explorer Mobile, which also sports support for Adobe Flash, as well as with a zoom bar so that users can find more easily what they are looking for. A variety of applications can be downloaded to the device from the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and personal files can be easily backed up through the MyPhone service from Microsoft.

Starting with October 16, Singaporean mobile phone users will be able to purchase the new device in Lofty Blue and Urban Brown for a price tag of S$618 from all authorized resellers.
