Sprint's version gets unboxed

The HTC Touch Pro2 seems to be one of the most wanted mobile phones that have been launched on the market this year running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. The handset has already reached a series of markets around the world, and went to the US via T-Mobile, while being expected to soon land on Sprint's airwaves as well, and now we learn that another US carrier, Verizon, is also getting ready to launch the phone in the near future, namely on September 11.

According to Engadget, the phone is expected to become available for Big Red's customers for a price set at $299.99 upon the signing of a 2-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. The device will be cheaper than on Sprint's lineup, yet we should wait for it to get here to see what differences the two variants include. And since these three major US carriers will have the phone, AT&T won't be too late to the party either, with its own Touch Pro2 version expected to come in October.

Until Verizon's Touch Pro2 becomes official, we should note that the Sprint variant has been unboxed, and that a video with it is also available. The carrier's users will get a Touch Pro2 that sports a series of keyboard and color changes compared to the T-Mobile variant, though the much discussed 3.5 millimeter headphone jack is present with the device. Take a look at the video below to learn a little more on the phone.

One more thing that should be said about the HTC Touch Pro2 is the fact that it will be updated to the next version of Windows Mobile, 6.5, after the OS becomes available on the market. Lars Christian Weisswange, Regional Director of HTC for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, stated in a recent interview with AreaMobile.de that the phone would be upgraded along with the HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Snap. No details on when the upgrade will come, yet users will get it for free.
