A new software update has been recently made available for the users of a HTC Touch Diamond2 mobile phone from the Taiwan-based handset vendor HTC Corporation. According to the company, the new software update only comes as a minor update for the Windows Mobile-based device, and should enhance the stability of its SMS functions.

“This update for Touch Diamond2 amends the internal management of SMS functionality, and enhances SMS transmission stability,” is what the leading mobile phone maker notes on its support website. “This update is only applicable to ROM versions is between 2.51.xxx.x & 2.54.xxx.x,” the company added.

Users interested in downloading an installing the new software solution on their HTC Touch Diamond2 mobile phones should know that they can do that via a desktop computer running under Microsoft's Windows OS (XP, Vista or Windows 7). Moreover, specific software would have to be installed on the machine, including Microsoft ActiveSync on a Windows XP-based PC, or Windows Mobile Device Center on a Windows Vista-based computer.

Users would have to connect and sync their mobile phone with the PC through one of the aforementioned software solutions. Prior to the installation of the update, one might consider performing a backup of all personal info on the device, just to make sure that nothing is lost in case something goes awfully wrong.

The new software solution is available for download as the “TOP_S2_00472.exe” file, and can be found on HTC's support website here. The software weighs in at 11MB. Following the download, users would have to copy the file to their handsets, tap it, and then follow the on screen instructions to get through the update process. It should be notes that the update would have to be reinstalled in case a hard reset of the device is performed, which means that users might consider saving the file on their hard disk to avoid needing to download it again.
