For less than $800

The official released date of the Touch Diamond was set by HTC for June, but the elegant Pocket PC is available as of now, via several online mobile retailers. Its price, free of any contract, ranges from almost $800 to about $900, as expected. The device can be found, for example, at Welectronics or Popularelect.

Although users who want to buy the Diamond can wait for it to become available via carriers and get it for lower prices, the handset's availability before June is a great thing for those who desperately want to have the slim Pocket PC as soon as possible.

Among the highlights of Touch Diamond we must mention: a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with 640 x 480 pixels, an innovative TouchFlo 3D user interface, Windows Mobile 6.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, Opera Mobile browser (or a browse based on Opera), Video and Music players, a 3.2 Megapixel camera and 4GB of internal memory.

The Pocket PC only measures 102 x 51 x 11,5 mm (slimmer than the iPhone) and weighs 110 grams. Its dimensions together with the fancy diamond-ish pattern on the back case will surely allow Diamond's owners to stand-out.

HTC Touch Diamond will be released globally in two versions, one for the Americas and one for Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. The only difference between the two versions is the frequency they work on: the American one comes with GSM 850/1800/1900 and HSDPA 850/1900 connectivity, while the other one features GSM 900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 900/2100 connectivity.

HTC stated not long ago that it wanted to sell 3 million Diamonds worldwide, by the end of the year. We're not sure the Taiwanese company will actually manage to do so, but it's certainly not an impossible goal, especially since the demand for highly featured and nicely designed mobile devices is constantly growing.
