After the TyTN II got cloned (and downgraded when it comes to functionality), now the newest HTC Pocket PC, the Touch Diamond, has an illegitimate brother too. Named Diamond J6, the Touch Diamond clone comes from China (as most of the copycat handsets) and it can easily be mistaken for a genuine HTC Pocket PC.

At a closer look, though, the Touch Diamond wannabe unveils its true identity - that of a mediocre handset with a questionable build quality.

Measuring 101 x 55 x 13 millimeters, J6 is a bit thicker than HTC's Touch Diamond, but it still keeps the overall slim appearance. Anyway, if in terms of looks the J6 is quite close to the real Diamond, in terms of features the new device is clearly inferior to the original.

The display of J6 has the same size as the one packed in the Touch Diamond - 2.8 inches - but its resolution is of only 240 x 320 pixels, hence only a quarter of the VGA resolution supported by the original display.

The full list of features offered by Diamond J6 include: dual-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz) with GPRS, MP3 player, Video player, FM radio, polyphonic ringtones, Bluetooth 2.0, a camera that seems to have 3.15 Megapixels, Image viewer, WAP browser, USB and 256MB of internal memory, expandable up to 4GB with a microSD card. The battery of J6 can offer between 140 and 280 minutes of talk-time or between 140 and 260 hours of standby time, thus we can easily say that it's a weak one.

The Diamond J6 has a retail price of only 1,199 yuan, which means about 175 USD or 110 Euros. The handset can be bought across China or from various online retailers, but we definitely don't advise anyone to spend their money on it.

I OWN one of them, and I think the way this review puts it, it pretty much says that it sucks, but in fact its a very good phone, the battery lasts way longer than mentioned. overall, its a very nice phone, so dunt just read this review and set your mind on not buying it, simply put!

I have this phone and I like it. It works well and once you figure out how to work it, it is a good phone. I believe the review is incorrect. I would suggest this phone to others.
