HTC Touch Cruise was given the Windows Mobile 6 OS when it first hit the market. Like any other OS, this one too featured some bugs that could prove really annoying for users, so the Taiwanese company took care of the problem by releasing an update to Windows Mobile 6.1.

The update features, besides the usual 6.1 goodies, improved functions and fixes for all those little things that used to be so vexing, such as:

· Bluetooth Headset: you can rest assured now that you'll be able to use the Bluetooth headsets without any problems whatsoever. · Default Onscreen Keyboard: you no longer have to worry that the device will not remember the last onscreen keyboard used and that it will default the Touch Keyboard. · Title Bar: it will no longer disappear when you go back to the Home screen. · Camera Viewfinder: the viewfinder is no longer cut when you open a Powerpoint file and then tap Options. · GPS Mode: the display will no longer become “abnormal” after taking a picture in GPS mode and then going into Suspend/Resume mode. · FM Radio Speaker/Headset Mode: if, until now, it could happen that the FM Radio program used the incorrect output mode (Speaker or Headset) before the application launched, this is no longer the case. · TouchFLO Setting: the issue where the TouchFLO setting did not appear in the Settings > System tab has been fixed. · TomTom in Home Screen: the issue where TomTom did not show in the Home screen has also been dealt with.

The Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the Touch Cruise can be downloaded from here.

HTC Touch Cruise may not be the best looking device from HTC, but it did pack a lot of goodies right from the start. Moreover, thanks to this update, the handheld should run really smoothly, without any of the problems you might have encountered before it. Even if none of the above ever occurred during your experience with Touch Cruise, it's still a good idea to update your OS since it's sure it will improve the overall functionality of your device.
