One of the latest mobile phones that surfaced into the wild in the past few days was the HTC Touch.B/Rome. The handset has been spotted into the wild before, only that this time a series of images with it also emerge, showing how it might look like when it will be delivered on the market. There are not too many details available on the phone, except maybe from the fact that it is expected to come as a BrewMP-powered handset.

When images with the device surfaced on MobiFrance a few days ago, some voices around the Internet suggested that this might be yet another HTC phone that will run under Google's Android operating system, yet it seems that the truth is another one. HTC has been rumored a while back to plan delivering to the market a device powered by Qualcomm's Brew Mobile Platform, and it seems that the HTC Touch.B/Rome is that very handset.

For the time being, however, the operating system from Qualcomm is reportedly still in some of its early stages of development, and some additional info that emerged on the handset suggests that the ROM included on HTC Touch.B/Rome would be an Alpha variant of the platform. However, it also comes with a simple TouchFlo type UI and, although seems to be a basic OS, things are certainly moving towards better. Especially since the ROM is dated July 2009.

Not to mention that Qualcomm says the following about the OS: BrewMP is “a freely available mobile OS platform. It’s an open, easy to use version of Brew and is scalable across all tiers of mobile devices to get powerful applications onto mass market devices.” The pieces of information that have been delivered this time include the fact that the phone is expected to come with 3G connectivity options, as well as with support for Bluetooth and Adobe Flash. However, the one thing that seems to be missing in action at the moment is the Wi-Fi connectivity.

Have a look at the new images and at the video that emerged with the HTC Touch.B/Rome, and head over to MobiFrance to see what they have to say on the handset and its operating system.
